I was fortunate enough to pick up a brand new Termi' Spag' system recently for the SP4 and today decided to fit it to the bike.'Kin 'Ell, what a palaver. After a couple of hours of offering it up, taking it down and cursing, I finally got the system mounted up. Had lunch and resumed work in a better frame of mind. I'll just put the silencers on and then stand back and admire my handiwork........ Like FUCK.π‘ π‘ I don't know what jig Termi used, but I can't get the silencers to line up properly. The nearside one, if I set it to get the height to the mounting bracket, it angles inwards and the offside one, apart from fouling the rear brake mounting bolt, angles outward. Has anyone else had problems and how did you get round them?. I should have thought that for the money these systems cost, that the fit would be accurate to the Nth degree...... Welcome to the world of pain that is fitting race parts to roads bikes........I am living in a world of pain myself at the moment!! Ex-race wheels, switches and god knows what else adn NOTHING fits without some filing,cutting,re-jigging etc. I think the reason all the Corsas looked different is nothing to do with the fact that Ducati supplied what they wanted, when they wanted and in whatever shape they wanted,it is with how each person decided to fix the shite fitting-everyone has a different approach.π³ π
If it is any help,i ended up cutting the bottom off the silencers, lining it all up and welding it back on!! And mine is a hand made system, with everything perfect, except the frigging Termignoni silencersπ
Good luck mate.Give me a ring if you need any help.

Mick,
The spaghetti system wouldn't fit on my SP3 with standard footrests. Our frames are different, but it might be useful to see if it will line up with the footrests removed.

Bloody hell! we must be insomniacs united.π
Mike, I dropped the rear brake assembly of so that it didn't interfere with the silencer, still to no avail.π
Jasper, I understand what you're saying but I'm reluctant to start chopping things apart at this moment." Fit for purpose " springs to mind.

Termi Trouble ...

Micky,
Comiserations sounds a nightmare ....
Is your 'new' system from the seller on ebay Italy who advertises such systems ?
Thanks
Tom
ducati dad
Hi Tom, I got it from a well known Ducati dealer in Surrey.
loony888
mate, i feel your pain, and i got quite a chuckle as i recall the bullshit i went through as well. termignoni stuff is nice, but fitting it! holy hell, a palaver for sure! when i look at mine both silencers point inwards as they rise and they are not parallel at the start of the muffler, getting them to line up at the outlets was trial and error that took weeks, if you look at the silencer sections you should notice that they are not designed to be symmetrical, and there's next to no chance you will get them to run exactly the same, from the top my rhs muffler sits 10mm further forward than my lhs.
incidentally, i have a mate with a factory corsa with the exact same system and mine fits better than his!
paul.
p.s, did you get the lower tang to bolt up to the case where your stand bracket mounts?
ducati dad
Yes Paul, the tang is there but I don't think that it can be used.
ducati dad
Well, I got the silencers to roughly line up in some semblance of neatness,( probably have to borrow Spike's lump hammer to finesse them ), but it means that I've had to leave off the rear brake lever. Now some reckon that it was no use anyway, but I'm more worried about the police taking an interest in it's absence. Having looked through the Gallery at rear brake levers I liked the look of Loony888 Febur units as they don't have the lower projection that takes the brake lever. So, are they still available, anyone selling a set, what is the meaning of life Brian???
I'm beginning to think this 888 business is starting to get to me..π―

Mick,
One picture is worth a thousand words mate...
The OEM fitment Farne headers on the SP(4)S's had a bloody great 'Ding' put into the exhaust to clear the rear brake pedal as standard!
Show us what you've got then we can advise using our collective knowledge.
The late Rob B-Rob Barksfield had a similar problem to you when fitting a genuine 50mm Spaghetti system which we sorted after looking at some pic's, using experience and a lot more brute force than Rob was prepared to use this didn't involve cutting and shutting, but some of the holes were elongated*.
The thing here is that you're fitting a race part with road going footrests, the Carbon Corse footrests that I have position the footpeg/brake pedal higher than the road going items giving a lot more clearance to the exhausts.
As I've said before "One 'mod' leads to another and another"...
It's a shame that you live so far away, as I'm sure we could sort it between us in an afternoon in my workshop.
*After my advice Rob assembled the system without tightening any of the fixings, then pushed, shoved and levered everything into place, then lightly nipped it all up, then ran the motor until everything was very hot, after it had cooled down he tightened everything up.
This approach usually works, sometimes the system cracks if the tension's too much, in which case it's time to get out the welding kit, but after this's been done the system is bespoke to the bike.
I've welded up exhaust systems in the pit lane at 'Silly O'clock' in the morning that have cracked during World Championship 24 Hour Endurance races and they haven't failed after that.
