MK851 Ducati 851 1991

MK851

Since a few months I'm the proud owner of a Ducati 851 from 1991 and reading a lot on this forum.
I haven't made a lot of rides till now, because of the weather in the Netherlands, but I'm looking forward to the summer !

Well here are some pictures:

On ebay I already bought a V-piece, but I think it won't fit on my 1991 851, because there no holes in the fairing.

This is the part:

The number on it : 484.1.015.1A

Anyone knows for which model year this part will fit ?

Looking at the '91 851 catalogue ( see file section) you could be right: no v-piece on this bike. I think it would fit the later 888 models (non sp types).
Lets see what other real experts on this Forum have to say!

Where do you live? I'am also from the Netherlands: Nijmegen. Already a member of the Dutch Ducati Club (DCN)?

It's a pity it doesn't fit, because I think it is a great update for my bike. But maybe other members on this forum have some ideas of a v-piece on a 1991 model.

I live near Breda and I'm not a member of the DCN, but my girlfriend is (she drives a Monster 900).

that V piece fits the 93 888 strada and SP. the 94 strada is almost identical except for a rectangular cutout around the cylinder head.

That is a super clean '91! Very nice. I hope that you have a great summer.

The V piece will fit the '92 Strada and on I believe. I wouldn't get too uptight about it on a '91. The fairing is plenty stable at speed.

I have one that I'm going to fit up eventually (got to make my C/F one first from the one I have). The simple solution I've thought about is to glue some tube on to the fairing and stick in a well nut. Perhaps some bracing around the tube with epoxy and fiber glass also.

Very nice bike indeed! Can't wait too for the good weather to come.
I too think the front part of the fairing is of the later model (starting with the SP4 in 1992).
