Philippe, how much longer is that corse swingarm or just the overall lenth and how does it effect the handling?
Phil911
My couple of racing swingarms are 3 cm longer (mod.93) and 2.5 cm (mod.94)than the SP.5 model, both with a big size rear axle ...
According to an information bulletin read many years ago (thanks to a Ducati dealer), the change of swingarm permitted to compensate the lack of stability of the front wheel when the throttle was fully opened out of a bend and then improve the rear wheel traction ...
(Hope my written explanations make sense to you ... ???)
I'm not an ingeneer specialised in Dynamic matters, but I may provide a correct answer in 2008, because I will rid the bikes on circuit ...
Last important point :
My name is Philippe, ... not Roche, Falappa or Polen !!! ;-)))))))))))

Phillipe, It is good to know yor name is not Roche,Flappa or Polen but that does raise the question of what and how is Roche doing these days? now back to the course swingarm effects on handling. like you I'm not an engineer(my wife is the clever one here. Aeronautic engeneer) my question is what does it do to the weight bias front to rear and does it change the front end feel? I'm asking for input so as to decide wether to have one made.
Phil911
how is Roche doing these days?
---> After his career, he made buisness with Asia (clothes etc ...)
Now with white hair ( ... like me !! ๐ ) he sometimes appears in few French Ducati events.
He's always very popular and friendly ...
now back to the course swingarm effects on handling. my question is what does it do to the weight bias front to rear and does it change the front end feel?
---> Both bikes do not have the same steering angle.
When I ride the 93 (SCRIGNO stickers) the handling is very soft when straight ahead but have to fight when cornering.
The 94 has got a close steering angle. Same feelings on straight line, but very very incisive as soon as I focus on the bend entrance.
I checked the swingarms weight, when rebuilding bikes.
Both were lighter, compare to the original SP.5. Moreover, the items located into each side of the arm, to center the rear spindle are made with magnesium material ...
I'm asking for input so as to decide wether to have one made.
---> Original ones are very difficult to find now because of the low figures ... The large alloy piece located close to the arm axle has got a different design ...
