To get the pin out you have to press the barb back towards the pin so the pin can slide out backwards. On the P7/8 plug a small jewelers screw driver is the tool of choice. On the round pins (two barbs) a bit of coke can rolled up into a tube does the trick. Spade connectors a cut down feeler gauge.
The removal is more art than brute force. You have to get your tongue in just the right place.
Once mastered you can add and change things with out having to resort to cutting wires and twisting them together then taping them up with black electrical tape, which is simply barbaric.
If you are adding wires from other systems ie alarm or whatever. Make the the wiring obviously different. That way the next owner stands a chance.
