M1R forks - Caliper upgrade - Help required

Hi All, this is my first time on this forum so here goes.

I have a 1989 851 with Marzocchi M1R forks. I currently run the old "black" 40mm Brembo caliper. I wish to upgrade these to the newer "Goldline" variety, Ideally the 65mm version. These are not a straight swap in respect of the 40mm calipers due to the difference in offset.

So my question is does anyone know of a source for these caliper mounts?
Old "Black" 40mm to newer "Goldline" (65mm preferably).

I have tried places such as JHP and Yoyodene, these all have 40 to 65mm caliper mounts for "Goldline" but nothing for the old "black" caliper.

M1R's and Brembos

Hi and welcome,

You are onto a winner here. The later 1989 M1Rs (not the Tricolore ones) take standard 320mm discs + standard brembo callipers. The black ones that you have are actually very good if still in nice condition and certainly a match for the rather dubious M1R's (IMHO).
But if its goldlines you want then all the 40mm centre ones will drop right in with no modification at all.
There are loads on ebay
Fitted to lots of 888's
900SS/SL
Early 916 series
And an even cheaper location is in the Laverda twins section, Ghosts, Zanes etc
Also Aprillia 250's
You should pick up a good pair for £100ish

If you are dealing with 16" wheels, Phil Hiscock at Road and Race has adapaters available off the shelf. I have done this conversion (2 pot to 4 pots) on M1R's using a set of 2nd hand calipers and these adapters, it was a straight bolt up. Follow the link below.
