sp2 boy wroteIs it not something to do with balancing/damping the engine, seem to recall this type of thing used on balance shafts...
...been too busy sniffing resin to recall exactly...then again I could be on cloud 'cuckoo land'...not the first time and surely it won't be my last!
None of this 'homegrown' that Mr R goes on about, not even 'Morrocan' or 'Black', but SP115. It's UV stable you know, best resin to use! 😝
As you've probably realised mines not the best memory in the World, for some reason I've forgotten?
Or more likely can't be bothered to try and remember...
But here goes anyway...
A 90 degree V twin has perfect primary balance, which a single cylinder certainly doesn't, so the Supermono design was an attempt to fool a single into thinking it was a V Twin, thus making it smoother and allowing it to attain much higher revs than it could normally achieve without exploding.
This also allows the cycle parts to be made lighter as they won't suffer from the usual vibes that plauge most racing singles.
Of course I could be completely wrong on this?
But it seemed to work quite well IIRC.
