It's pin #7 on a P7. I think it is pin #11 on a P8.

Ok I fitted up the SPA design tacho, it powers up. I connected to pin 12 and pin 1, and then nothing happened in the RPM read out dept. Does anybody know if I should directly connect them to pin 3+4 which is the RPM sensor on the flywheel. I don't want to tap into the coil wire just yet, Mainly because my lovely piece of silver triple shielded wire won't reach the the ignition units.

Ok, don't worry about the former question, thought I'd just give it a whirl anyway. Pin 4 it is (sorry Phil, no idea what pin 12 does). As its picking up of the DP flywheel which has 4 nodes on it I had to set the SPA tacho to number of cylinders = 8. two coils and 4 nodes.

On the subject of 4 pickup nodes on an 888, (early 851's have only one) what the hell do the extra three do? i have a P8 fitted where once a P7 lived. The bike ran fine with one node, and runs fine with four. Is it just a matter of balance? Any body know what happens to the three extra pulses. Are they in fact a decadent waste by the design engineers flaunting their supebike mastery.😁

PS Do not connect pin 12 to pin 4. The assumption that pin 12 does nothing is wrong. It does something, as when pin 12 and 4 are connected the bike stops. I did it twice to make sure.😯 No brown smell and everything worked Ok after wards.
