Anyone know of anyone in the UK that makes a seat pad like this?
sp2 boy
Hi Stafford, is that not just some flat foam that is cut to shape and fitted with its sticky side onto the panel? If so I have said foam and you are welcome to it.
henk
hallo,
i also think it's foam.you can get it in shape by grinding the edges with sandpaper.
henk!!!

Hi there, if you are referring to the foam, it's neoprene rubber shaped with sandpaper and glued to the paint.
You can see mine in the "what's in your garage" section to see how it guets. Basicly you cam do that ever you want with it and cam by it in any local auto rubber store (at least here)
Its a lovely seat by the way, maybe ill make one like that for me 😁

Stafford, I have just posted it first class, might be there tomorrow, you should certainly have it on Monday.

Thanks Peter, that's another beer I owe you.
Now does anyone have any tips on cutting carbon fibre as I need to make the hole for the rear light the right size.
sp2 boy
Stafford it can be cut with jig saw but don't go too close to the edge that you want as it is best getting the final dimension by sanding use a 60 grit to start with and finish with 600 wet and dry.
Seems a shame to chop up a race seat unit...though it's my fault for not having finished your damaged one.
How about mounting the rear light further down instead?

Seat and light should line up
Hi Stafford,
If its the seat that you had from me I managed to get the light to line up and clear the hole with a bit of fiddling with the holes in the tab on the subframe..
I will dig out a picture

Stafford,
foam seat base plate is finished just need to do a rough trim, it should make the post today so you will have it by the weekend.
Could be made in carbon, the possibility of a tailored neoprene style 851 and 888 single seat pad is looking likely...a made to measure seat unit! 😝
An end to losing or worrying about your rear seat pad 'Dzus' style clip! 😁

Nice one mate, just trying to find someone to do a suede type cover.
sp2 boy
Stafford, here are some pictures of the seat base.
If you are really stuck I can cover it in Alcantara...many moons ago, when I did the C&G Vehicle Restoration course at Colchester, one of the lovely subjects was 'Trim'.
I will call you Stafford, unless you beat me to it about the seat unit.

Thats a top job sp2!!! Will look amayzing!!
Cheers

I spoke to SP2 on Tuesday just to run some ideas for a seat unit past him and look at that jobs done. What a star. 😁
Looking to get some foam tomorrow, still looking for a supplier for the Alcantara.
Question should I look for backed or unbacked?
sp2 boy
Alcantara (man-made suede, because it doesn't shrink) is available from car trimmers and suppliers, such as 'Woolies' or 'Boyriven' (New Forest way).
Alcantara is also available in various colours. There are different types of cloth, you need the more flexible backed materials for easier shaping.
The bits made the post this afternoon.
The truth is that Stafford phoned me whilst I was at the workshop and I made the bit in between other jobs, it was no big deal!

There's a bloke on the ducati sportingclub user name Glyn who does seat retrimming in genuine water repellant treated suede, quoted me £40inc postage to trim 2 seat pads that i have made out of the foam to copy the sp5 style seat pads if thats any use.

Cheers Superfly I'll PM him.

Hi stafford, I see what you mean and that looks fab!..umm may be one could come my way where it could be made to pick up the original fixtures on my seat unit,
Any chance you could enquire next time you chat with him.
Hopefully if its not hooolin it down, see you later..

You could pick up on the three base seat holes, but you'd lose access to your boot/trunk area.

Hi,
My QB carbon/Kevlar seat unit fitted with a Corbin seat pad (no seat hump pad fitted*) hasn't got a tool compartment appature, but I've fitted the unit with only 4 Dzus fasteners so it takes only a few seconds to remove the whole unit, leaving me access to everything under the rear unit.
*I'm 6ft tall and long in the back, so being pushed forward wasn't really an option for me.
You can get an idea of how it looks from my avitar.

Have you got a better picture of your seat Mr.R? (oo er misses)
