She runs! After 20 years of sitting in a museum before I bought her in February, the ’92 Duc 851 fired to life today for the first time. It was a glorious sound…
Replaced w/ New: Battery, oil & filter, both tires, spark plugs, engine belts, small rubber bits, coolant hoses & clamps (upgraded to Samco).
Serviced/ cleaned: Brake pads, Air filter, etc. Motor sounds healthy, and I was able to shift from 1st to 2nd under movement… Almost road-worthy!
Changing engine belts was daunting at first, and coolant hoses were more difficult than expected, but feels good to do my own work (with buddies) instead of paying a shop.
Left to do: Seat reupholstery, lower fairing crack and minor paintwork, then registration (plate has 2005 sticker from last time on the road!).
