Looking for a few parts (Update on my 'new' 851)

Hi All- Thank you again for having me here, and I look forward to learning more about my ’92 851 Strada on this forum. I finally had a chance to take the fairings off, clean the bike up and take account of what’s needed after a nearly 20 year slumber in a museum (even the tires have a 2002 date code!). I’ll keep searching eBay, but if any of you have leads on these items, I would be grateful… Seems like the majority of OEM pieces for these bikes are hard to purchase new.

The front fender (5641013IAA) has severe cracks around a few of the mounting holes and one is gone all together. Its going to get wobbly at some point.

I’m missing all 4 of the airbox clips for some reason- The lid is just sitting on top. (037095660)

Left front turn signal is severely chipped along the bottom edge (53040021A)

Toolkit is missing 69720011A or C

I’m missing 1 of the screws on the underside of the seat section (just behind the exhaust mounting bracket)

and 1 of the fairing side screws w/ large body washer

Lastly, my rear seat cover has a hairline crack and one of the mounting holes is broken off- It works for now, but keeping my eye out for a nicer one.

HeyItsJay I had to repair my seat cover. Chap called Tony did it for me near abinger hammer. Procycle spraying. He built the broken tab back up using a metal washer and you cannot tell it was repaired. Stronger than stock.

When you finally find the parts you’re looking for are you actually going to ride this bike?

I ask this because the bike is still quite ridable as it is and I’m sure it would be just as enjoyable without being 100% original.

I’ve only had this Duc for a month now, but its not those little bits that are stopping me from riding the bike - Keep in mind that this bike hasn’t been ridden since 2005, so although it looks good in pictures, it has tires dated from 2002 that I will need to replace, and will also get the engine belts replaced before firing her up. It would be a sad day if a belt failed on her first ride…
This week I’ll be changing the oil and brake/ clutch fluid, soaking the rusty drive chain, etc.
I’ll get her on the road soon enough!

Hi Jay -

If you haven’t already - I’d strongly recommend changing the brake lines and fuel hoses also - many of us (myself included) have had issues with both these items on the older machines - time isn’t kind to them!

Thanks Mike- Luckily someone installed steel braided brake lines back in the 90 or 2000s, but I’ll replace anything I see that is cracked, damaged or worn, for sure!
