Restoring OEM Mufflers

I'm having a devil of a time finding a set of mufflers for my 851. My originals were damaged while the bike was being shipped to me. They are the A04/B04 variety.

I've seen some folks selling "restored" cans for other bikes, like the 900SS, and since the cans are similar, it seems possible. What I don't know is what the original condition of these "restored" mufflers was. Can dents, scratches, etc. be fixed, and then the can refinished? This seems to be my only route at the moment, as I've been looking for 3 years, and only came across one set that I was a day too late on.

Restoration B08 almost finished

Finding a nice OEM muffler - almost impossible! I seached for many years.

But yes, it is possible to restore. If you find the professional suppliers willing to do it..
These are the steps I took:
- Dissembled and cleaned the sleeve, also inside from soot (request from treatment factory)
- Sent to surface treatment specialist factory for de-anodizing
- Sent to a good workshop to brush the surface to match the original structure
- Sent again to factory for anodizing
- Re-assebled using pressure-prof rivets

Thanks guys...I have a set of high-mount carbon cans on the bike now, but would really like to have a pair of the factory OEM mufflers to keep it original. The bike has sat in two collections since it was bought new, and has under 1,400 miles on it, so I think it's important from a valuation perspective to have the original cans.
