countcoupe Hi Team, last night my 1992 851 stalled while idling and broke the sprag clutch spring! This is the 3rd time in 18 months!! It had just been started from cold. Any idea why my bike is eating springs? It has a strong battery and the engine has recently been serviced, valve shims, belts, oil etc. Count
griff851 Have you just been changing springs? Sounds like you need to replace the sprag clutch. Have a good look at the flange while your there. Just changing the spring is a hit and miss affair.
countcoupe The sprag bearing and the flange are worn out! I found a pattern part replacement flange from Taiwan that comes with the bearing. Arrived the other day. They look ok. I've fitted them to the bike, but haven't had the chance to try starting it. I've also fitted new bushes to the starter motor to give it every chance of a bit of longevity.
Mr.R I now run the KTM parts, but a few years back (IRC?) when I 1st used them I found the need to reverse all of the rollers to make them work. Steve R
