Hi Folk,
Stripped front forks of bike needing service as weeping.
Ducati Carlisle 4 weeks ! They told me Ducati Glasgow went bankrupt
Over year ago, just tried them and they are functioning as normal.
Anyhow my long term objective would be to have the fully refurbished, gold anodising re chrome etc.
Can any one direct me to someone that could carrry out full Refurb, K Tech service only, Maxton May b option though they where not sure about gold anodising.

I am going to use Glasgow to have service completed so I can ride these next months
Than I would like to have refurbished, any help is appreciated.

Just an update, Ducati Glasgow can not source service kit.

As you mention Ktech can supply bushes and OEM seals as they did my pair not so long ago.

Jan De Vos on Facebook (Redfox Grinta) is selling "new" tubes.

For rechroming the fork tubes there are many to choose from or you can contact Nick at Allbike Engieering and he will make you some if he hasn't got them already.

Personally I re anodised my tubes (write up in my SP4 rebuild) at Daventry Metal Finishers but to be honest they are not perfect. Once corrosion gets into them (high zinc content) you cant really get it out without cutting deep intothe material and anodising doesn't grow from corroded aluminium.

Picture attached is of my re anodised outer tubes by Daventry Metal Finishing and rebuilt forks/rear shock by Ktech. Fork tubes were fine and I chose not to re anodise the fork bottoms or knurled nut.

Wish mine looked like that, the gold anodising is scratched with handle bars on and off. I am not confident too strip down myself so looking for the service job then refurb later in season

RWG, I didn't take an pictures before I started but it sounds like your tubes are similarly scarred as mine were. Can you post any pictures of yours?

I also suffered corrosion where the brake/speedo cabled has rubbed the anodising off a tube and corroded the aluminium.

I had the tubes dipped by a plater to remove existing anodising then proceeded to remove scratches and corrosion. Once re anodised they were painted with clear laquer just to try and increase the resistance to corrosion.

Its a bit of faff but way cheaper thatn replacement tubes and easier to when apart as the anodiser will insist upon bare outer tubes.

Leaking fork seals has long been a problem on the Ohlins fitted to our 851/888's.
With my SP4/SPS 9050 Ohlin's I didn't bother with re-anodising them, a posh finish doesn't effect the way that they work (and I use my bikes all year round), but I did have them upgraded/rebuilt by MAXTON who hard chromed the stanchions, re-valve, re-sprung them to my weight and fitted new seals.
...and after quite a few years/several thousands of miles now they haven't leaked again.😎
A good mate of mine had MAXTON overhaul his 9050's for his 888/926cc SPS a few years earlier and his haven't leaked since.
So if you want the alloy legs to look perfect? Buy some replacements from Yan, then have the complete legs sorted out by MAXTON's.

Maxton, do sound like the option spoke with Nathan and felt assured 2-3 week sounds OK.

You mention Yan but I don't know this contact could you advise who and what he could do.
