RWG Thank you, will look at 14/43 for my Sp4 as he mentioned. Is there anyone known to forum members that is good to look after my bikes, all Duc's from late 70s up to mid 90s. I am based in Cumbria Cheers
Mr.R RWG wroteThank you, will look at 14/43 for my Sp4 as he mentioned.I think 14/43 would be way too low Paul, I'd go with either 15/41 or 15/42. Have you thought about Roy Armstrong? Steve R
griff851 It will depend on your compression ratio. I have 12.2:1, standard is 11.5:1 As I found out, the harmony is achieved with maximum acceleration and the tendency to compression lock up approaching corners at speed removed. In particular tight corners on mountain roads. It was 14/43, changed to 14/41 to prevent death.
RWG My forks packed and shipped to Maxton, the roads i use are sweeping & tight corners with straights generally less than 800 meters with plenty of visibility so the top end is not a priority. Been reading past post regarding gearing, boy this is a science I don't have so the forum input is much appreciated. Steve, you mention Roy Armstrong, sorry not familiar with this name. What would the connection be. Cheers
Mr.R Roy and his son* run ItalSport Ducati in Rochdale, Roy was Mike Hailwood's mechanic for Sports Motorcycles. https://www.facebook.com/ItalsportDucat *Roy's son Paul (IIRC?) won the award for Best European Ducati technician a few years back. Steve R
