Hi Folk,

Looking for opinions on my next tyres choice for my Sp4, what I am looking for is fast road work with good feel, milage not an issue but wet weather grip matters as most work is in and around the Scottish Borders

For road tyres I use Pirelli Diablo Rosso 3 on various bikes, great tyre if you want sports grip & feel in all weather conditions and don't expect 5k out of a rear. Plus there's good deals to be had because the Rosso 4 has been released this year.

No doubt the 4 is a slightly better tyre but 100bhp won't trouble Rosso 3

would be interesting to see how you found one of the current sports touring tyres - road 5, angel gt2, t32, roadsmart 4 - given the wet grip is important. lots of people have an image of sports touring tyres that's really not that fair. i'm sure a road 5 would be a better tyre in every way than what was on the sp4 ex factory.

Michelin Pilot Road 4 or 5's, I use these myself.
As Brad's alluded to they're far better than anything that was available for the road back in '92.

Thanks fellas, luckily my local BMW/Honda dealer is letting me have a test ride on a bmw 1
R nine sport just shod with a new set of Mezteler roadtec 01. Will let you know.
Going to ask for price of Michelin 4 or 5 and decide hopefully later today or tomorrow

Had a run on the r nine sport today, was not ready at weekend, have to agree with Jimmy Metz where exceptional within an hour or so i had on bike experienced every sort of weather you could of wished for to get a feel for both bike and tyres.
Have to say the handsome r nine sport was a joy to ride other than the front suspension having no suspension adjustment and felt a little soft at times, the bike performed well driven enthuseasticaly found my self with same level of confidence in wet or dry conditions, in fact this lead me to stretch my wet weather riding to another level.
Have to thank Anthony at bmw for the recommendation, going for the Metz.

Best thing about spirited riding in the rain is there are no cops around. They're all attending motor bike crashes. 😁

I found exactly the same with those tyres, wet grip felt like dry, very confidence inspiring, amazing technology, enjoy!
