marvin wroteEthanol will eat your fuel lines and o-rings unless they are ethanol rated. It is hydroscopic (absorbs water) so keep your tank full when possible to minimize that. Fuel additives and stabilizers do nothing for the dissolving of fuel lines and o-rings. It just mixes with the water so it will burn. I don't care what they claim !!
Forgot. Ethanol makes some plastic swell. That's why newish plastic fuel tanks won't fit back on after a while. Yes they will shrink back to the original shape after a few years if left empty.
Paint does not adhere to most of the plastics that aren't effected by ethanol. Ducati tanks are made of a plastic that paint will adhere to well. Unfortunately it is one of the plastics that ethanol will attack.
Bottom line: Whoever thought ethanol should be put in gasoline should be shot at sunrise !! LOL
My guess is that it is the lobby here in the US of Monsanto/Con-Agri trying to boost the sales of corn !!
We should try to find something that helps, as Ethanol is here to stay.
This is a useful starting point to review (I use Sta-Bil just to add a little hope that we can limit its effect)
