The mirrors on my 888 are failing to maintain position even at moderate speed. I see that there are 2 knuckle joints on the mirror and the mirror is attached to the bracket by a cross head screw. The knuckle joints seem tight enough but is there any way of increasing the friction to prevent movement?

Thanks so much. Looking good. Test ride and report back coming up.

If you find that they're flogged out completely, they are the same mirrors as belt 900ss/750/600/400 which are cheap and readily available.
-edit-
Well, not completely identical, but close enough for practical purposes, and only an 851/888 afficionado can tell.

Thought I would add a quick tip. Both mirrors droopy 😄 I prefer not to cut, rough-up or file stuff as it is a one way street... so I added a single layer of bicycle inner tube, cut into a circle slightly larger than the ball/socket. Cut a small hole for the screw and clamp ball shank to pass through. As the screw is tightened it grips the inner tube from both sides allowing the joint to grip while remaining fully adjustable. Seems to work quite well and is ifinitely repeatable... availability of inner tubes not withstanding!

Carbon assembly paste
Had the same problem. Tried some of the carbon assembly paste I had lying around for my bicycle. Great solution. Easy to apply and the mirrors stay put

I have had this issue on another bike. I put a few drops of red loctite in the joint and let it set up. You could still break them loose as needed and then re-apply.
