lefty Well I bought a 900SS/750SS cable, it is shorter than the one fitted to my 888 but reaches fine however when I tighten the ferrule at the speedo end the cable won't spin - it will if I loosen the ferrule off so I assume the inner cable is being compressed - is this poor QC of the aftermarket cable or incorrect fitment??
Mr.R It's some years since I ran cable drive speedo's on my bikes but... I'm still fairly sure that the 900SS cables were longer then the OEM 851/888 items. The 900 cables that I used fitted perfectly to the Showa front end on my 851/888's. I looked in my stash for some, but it would seem that I've sold them all to fellow forum members over the last few years. The 851/888 Showa forks were the same externally to the 900SS/SL, I know this as I fitted some K-Tech modified SL forks to my '92 851. I also know that the clip-ons for the SS/SL's had a taller upstand, leaving me to think that the SS/SL's clocks were mounted higher (as they were pretty much the same clocks) than the 851/888's? lefty solution!! Thanks for input, Wemoto have been extremely patient and helpful having sent me 4 different speedo cables to try on my 888, non of the first three (all for 900SS) worked in that the inner cable was jamming when the ferule was tightened at the clock - seems like the ferule was screwing on too far before getting tight and trapping the thrust washer (that holds the inner cable in to the clock) between the clock cable slot and the outer cable. The fourth fitted and worked perfectly. It is actually longer than any of the 900ss cables, fyi should you need a new cable it is described on the pack as "older speedo/tacho" and is Wemoto part number DO2-7-101, cost around £13
