Dating cert.

Hi Folk,

Would anyone advise how to get a dating certificate or confirmation, 2 of my bevels where originally registered in Europe.

Hoping to get Historic classification

DOC GB have a dating service if you are a member.

Hi Paul,

The DOCGB is a separate entity to the Ducati Community and the Ducati Up North, which are only online forums.
The DOCGB is the oldest and largest Ducati Owners Club in the World.

Have you emailed the Ducati factory? If you send an enquiry they can look up any data on your frame number (if they have it) - date of build, model designation etc etc - very helpful. Email to:

I contacted the Ducati factory asking for the date of manufacture for a bike last Sept, I supplied all the data that they asked for which was:

- a picture of the engine
- a picture of the front
- a picture of the back
- pictures of the 2 sides of the bike
- a picture of the frame number punched on the bike
- a picture of the engine number punched on the bike
- a copy of the registration document where it is shown the VIN and your name as current owner
- a copy of a valid ID document

Ducati here in the UK are chasing this up for me - five months later as yet nothing back from Bologna.

In the meantime I decided to use the dating setup on the DOCGB website, two weeks later a cert arrived that is recognised by the DVLA- now I have an age related plate.

I had to join the club, however this entitled me to one cert free of charge.

Dont forget you will require NOVA certs as well.

Pic of the bike a Mach1 which shares a garage with an SP5, so that sort of fits the forum!

Doc dated mine last year,, great service. Bikesure insured it on frame number for mot and apart from delay due to covid, all sorted 👍 No extra fees to pay either 😉

This is all great news and info, 2 of the bikes I have owned 10 or more years but wanting to register as Historic the 3rd is a project in the making a 900 bevel imola replica but this one I only have old registration and some paper work but no v5

a nice lady from the factory rang me and told me my 1989 851 was in fact a 1991 sp3. i just smiled and said thankyou. i don't know that they know, frankly.

Brad that is a very misleading advise, that could mean someone paying more for there bike than they should if buying.

That is why forums like this is so important, having members with the knowledge and passion to see things more clearly.
