851 SP 2 front mudguard wanted.

Hi if anyone out there has an OEM front mudguard, please get in touch. A stupid garage accident has left me in need of a new one.

Secondly can anyone let me know if the gold series floating discs are still sold?

Off for a beer now to help me over the shock.

Hi Mick - I regret to inform you that the full floater cast iron discs are only available as used or NOS (folk charging about a grand!!) - you need to be careful buying used ones, wear limit 4.0mm (in middle of disc, not at lip where no wear occurs, width when new 4.5mm) and as they wear they become prone to cracking at the drillings

91 Strada (fitted with USD Showas) was fitted with the same fender. Might be cheaper than an SP part if you can find one.

Thanks Gents, I can't say I'm surprised by the news. I have a pair of old rotors but the carriers are stuffed. Looks like some gentle filing /sanding and a re anodise.

If anyone is looking to trade I have an SP 3 OEM fairing left and right hand sides not perfect but decent.
Mudguard plus cash my way.

Thanks for the replies. I was just getting this ready for summer after 12 years of storage and disaster struck. Going for a lie down in a dark room now.

Hi Mick - just be aware that the carriers wear out and then allow way too much 'to & fro' movement of the disc as the bobbins become loose because of the wear. I called Brembo to find out what I could do to remedy worn full floaters - unfortunately nothing for mine but you can get new bobbins if the carriers are not worn, also they provide new replacement discs for 10 bobbin type rotors, mine and I think yours are 12 bobbin for which there is no replacement. I was told that their modern stainless HPK rotors offer far better braking performance but they don't look correct for the era I guess

If you have a set our 12 hole/bobbins discs, but they have too much carrier play (still with decent thichkness on the disc, then I have reproduction carriers that are a straight swap. These are also made of T7075 aluminium, so much harder wearing than the original cheese versions.

Thanks to all of you who replied so promptly to my query. I am going to visit an alloy wheel refurbishing company tomorrow to see if the disc carriers can be salvaged. If not then I'll be buying a set as shown below.

On looking again at the mudguard it may be repairable, there is a company in Preston who make track day fairings and another who do fibreglass one off parts. In the event that it cannot be salvaged I intend to see what the price would be for a replica to be made from mine.

If anyone has any recommendations for a fairing repair service that they can recommend that would help.
