Just bought a 92 851, so I'm finally back in the game since selling my 888 back in 96, and looking to make a special from this one. So the wisdom of you guys is much appreciated and needed please.
So here goes;
1. What is the best replacement rear shock available at the moment, what are you guys using?
I will be using either Oz Piega 5 spoke or BST carbon 5 spoke in standard 851 fitment so,
2. Is the factory rear a 17 x 5.5" ?
3. The spindles are 17mm rear and 20mm front on the 92 851?
4. Will the SP discs from 916/748/SP3/4 will fit the standard 851 set-up?
5. Which better calipers/master than oem are avail or best to refurb the oem fitted?
I will be using factory headers but fitting high level carbon 45mm so;
5. Who does the best eprom chipping/chip and which is required (keeping factory eprom)?
6. Where do I source carbon exhaust hangers?
7. Are there any carbon fuel filler caps for the 851 anywhere?
Now for the million dollar question
7. Does anyone out there have a factory solo seat unit painted with pads, SP5 would be nice, but I'm guessing not?

1) try find an ohlins .. ie from monster
2) yes
3) all 17 rear, front maybe either 17 or 20.. axel / nut bushing can be replaced .. wheel bearings too, but you will need to find / make the wheel bearing spacer too
4) yes..
5) rebuild or get new gold brembo calipers.. master : brembo rcs 19 works very well. Braided hoses are must do if not done
6) why replace stock ?
7) ebay, FB, ...
7) yes I have .. and so do many other 888 hoarders ;-) repo frames, seats, pads are being made.. but OEM parts are getting pricy ...
