Marchesini Drive Sprocket

Happy New Year to all, hopefully this year will turn out better than last.

Question to the collective, hope you can help.

I have a set of 3 spoke aluminium Marchesini wheels which I like the look of - bit like the 3 spokes on the race bikes. They were supposedly fitted to a Ducati 750 TT and F1 and are from an 851/888 Luchenelli rep.

Trouble is I can't identify the drive sprocket carrier required.
I've found the drive bushes as a Bimota part for the SB6 however I can't seem to track down a carrier. Attached is a picture of the same wheel on a Ducati 888 but again no details of the carrier.

Any help to find one is greatly appreciated - or a drawing of one so I can see about having one made up.

Odd one

Hmmm hard to see much there, but it does not look like a normal 6 pin sprocket carrier as used on Any std Brembo duccati wheel... ... nor have i ever seen a 6 pin carrier version of the billet type, they are 5 pin ... please upload a foto of the wheel with out carrier .. (donot Think its a Ducati wheel)

If you are are happy w alu suggest you look for a monster / st wheel .. they are available w 17mm rear end.. plug and play ..

The grey here is from monster in alu .., the White MG, a bit more exotic ..

Those look like a set of 3 spoke wheels I had many years ago from a 90's Laverda 750 Formula. I was thinking of putting them on my SP3 but sold them before giving them a go

Yes I looked at the Laverda too but I think the chain is on the other side.

These wheels also appear to be an option on the Bimota SB6 but I think sprocket carriers are different.

Separate brake disc carrier is interesting too.

I'm hoping somebody on here has fitted these to an 851/888 in the past and can share details.

Ok, not a Ducati intended wheel ... (not saying that it can not be made to fit...) if alu I would Not spang the time , rather sell it and get some monsters wheels ref above. Good luck

Thanks Stig, pictures uploaded. I like the thinner spokes of these Marchesini alloy wheels, look more like the race bikes back in the day.

If you want it , do it...

Making a sprocket carrier can be done .. but I think its unlikely you will find plug and play parts. If this wheel is alu, its a lot of work to go through for some looks .. had it been MG i would jump on it myself...

If you do go ahead
1) start getting the sprocket (520 most likely) in the right place vs the swing arm.. ( compare w original setup)
2) ensure wheel is centered on the swing arm
3) consider your rear caliper bracket vs rotor .. likely some axial spacing needed ...

Make : sprocket carrier, with Appropriate bearings ... , 6 pins (likely you can modify some from a std Sprocket carrier ... + a shit load of spacers and bushings,..

Yep, nice little project not too hard though using the original wheel as the master - just seeing if anyone has something suitable.

Made a rear caliper carrier like the corse design to retain the original caliper and hanger in the last lockdown .....

if you measure the pcd of the cush drives that will give you the sprocket pcd and from there you might be able to work out if there is an oem fitment that matches. might need to troll through an afam sprocket catalogue or the like, or maybe ask a manufacturer if they can give you a list of sprockets with 6 bolts on that pcd.

Thanks Brad, I'll see what I can find.
PCD appears to be 100mm and the OD of the carrier needs to be 140mm.

Thanks Brad, great find - looks like it'll do the job.
Now got to see if the mounting holes require counterbore to ensure nuts clear swing arm.

I've reached out to the guy in Aus selling Bimota parts on ebay as he seems to have a carrier from an SB6 which he's kindly agreed to check dimensions of.
