Hi Folk,
Had a Great September with my Sp4 my Sunday run last Week was just like every other run this last month, briliant.
Until I decided to stop and have a coffee and fuel up to return home, back on bike thought I take Wrynose pass down to Keswick and then home.
All going well until about 2 Mile from the A6 and the motor just died. I rolled down until found somewhere to pull over.
All idiot light working, but no primimg of fuel. I checked Relay Fuses and found good, then found a 15amp Fuse next to Speedo Blown 2nd one down from top.
I carry two spare Relays and an assortment of Fuses.
So swopped out the blown 15amp and rode home keeping revs below 7k, so still swiftly but not bonkers.
My question is what is the general concencus of opionion a fatigiued Fuse or a Potential componant failure pulling Fuse.
Incedently the ride home after swopping Fuse was swift twisty and approx 65 miles, no bother and fuel pump sound great.
Cheers

Excessive current draw. Check circuit. Something is on the edge.

Cheers Griff,
The second fuse from top of Fuse block serves what, I am assuming if pump was failing Fuse on Relay would blow?
Trying to follow wiring diagram in 851 book I have but not sure of any difference with 888

Do these pics help? This is the arrangement for my SP4. Top (30A) is main, second (7.5A) is fan, third(15A) is lights.

Thank you, need to Check mine later, thought it was second one down but your's is showing 7amp?

Having checked the bike this evening, found it was thethird Fuse 15amp that had blown, Checking bike then identified The Hd High beam had failed. I must of hit the High beam accidentaly at the moment the bike Shut down.
Will swop out bulb this Week, When I bought the bike it had a Blue Hd bulb for both low & High beam.
Thanks for info
Cheers

Generally speaking, when a fuse blows, power is going straight to earth causing more current to flow than the fuse can handle. That is their purpose, to protect circuits. If one blows, you might be really lucky and have a dodgy one, but probability will always be power is going to earth. Which is a lie because current actually flows from earth to positive. Which is why it’s always better to have fat negative wires. The juice flows from the frame and neg battery terminal, the device uses some juice, so the return to battery positive does need to be as fat. But that’s is all here nor there unless your custom loom building.

Griff,I Think I understand your point. I am thinking the modul serving the HD Bulb Hi&Low modual may have gone to Ground?. The lights where on at the time and both hi & low have blown

Good to hear it was relatively easy. Now if I could only stop the smoke getting out yet another regulator things will be great. This time a 6v Ducati single where a solid state 4 wire regulator has been put in. Ahhhh! 😁 😁
