Regulator wiring on 888

Sure this has been asked before but I haven't found it. My 888 has an aftermarket regulator with 2 yellow wires, a red, a green and a white. 2 yellow are easy and are soldered directly to the alternator. Red I assume goes direct to the battery positive and green direct to battery negative or an earth. White I'm not sure about but with it disconnected the battery isn't charging. Could of course be a faulty regulator or even stator as the bike was in bits when I got it. Any suggestions on how and what to test or if I have the wiring wrong?

According to the pdf above, the white goes to the +ve battery terminal via the charge warning light.

I wince every time I hear someone has an Electrixworld Reg/Rec fitted.

The one on my M900 caught fire and I nearly lost the old girl.

A conversion to a later spec unit is a safer bet.

I agree with our new member Nasher.

Years ago I recommended the Electrex RR51's they seemed to be the answer to our problems,but after later suffering from a series of failures and knowing of friends who also suffered these faults I came out against them stating why I'd come to the conclusion/changed my advice.
For this "Crime" I was abused by a then Forum member saying that I had a personal axe to grind.
That forum member has since gained the infamy of being the only member who's been banned, in fact he was so good at it that he was banned twice.

I saw his bike in a mates shop a couple of months ago. It's got a thumb brake, not for any practice reason. Red barrels. Black swing arm and the worlds most expensive lithium battery that for some bizarre reason takes takes 2 stabs at the start button to get it to start. Not an overly pretty bike to look at, but he likes it.
All that talk and his ports and manifolds didn't line up. 😁 all very odd considering the cash spent.

We used to use Electrixworld ignitions on our TZ350s but the reliability was poor. Stator coil windings regularly failed. So it sounds like they had problems in other areas as well, like the regulators. 🙁

I miss him too ! I did warn him several times ! I went on DucatiMS a while back and was lambasted by him. Some things never change !!! 😎

Given that other than the white wire all else is connected up I assume that the white needs to be connected to +ive (even if not through the charge indicator) for the regulator to work? May seem like a stupid question but I don't want to just connect white to +ive if that may damage something...

Been very much a lurker on here gathering information for a few months whilst I save up for my dream, an 851.
But just couldn't keep quiet any more when I saw the thread.

I've just purchased a really cheap companion for my M900, a 1000SSie DS, which is ugly, but will be fitted with 900SL bodywork over the winter, and I am also already gathering the bits to convert it to the Mosfet Reg/Rec.

It's the alternator light circuit. When the regulator receives x charge from alternator the white wire goes open circuit and the light goes out. Don't connect it if you don't have a load/light. The regulator doesn't need it. Example: if the bulb was blown it would be open circuit.
