The Holy Grail ... but short version, another A5 / B5 mystery ?

Found these 2 cans in as new condition... left and right... at First i thought the right one was dented, but turns out its an original dent. To make room for foot rest / breake pedal..

The pipe work from collector to the 100mm can sleeve is about 60mm short ( comparred to A8/B8)
The hanger bracket is moved same 60mm backwards for an identical mount to the hangers ...

Seller of the left hand side one says : SP5 ..

Has anyone here ever seen a factory dented right hand side like on foto ?

( belive its a country specific set, ie italy , australia, ... )

Nope, never seen anything as savage as that before. Not even brads get the ST headers to clear the swing arm bashing. Looks like a going racing, brought the wrong pipes for my rear sets, or visa versa, stinking brake lever arm is going to foul. I’ll stick a bit of wood in a press and give it some. 😁
Can’t imagine a factory mechanic letting his beautiful flow be interfered with that much.
The dings I have seen, were on 2-1 bevels for gear change lever. But again I don’t think they came out of the box with a preinstalled ding.

I've seen genuine SPS pipes bashed in/dished by the factory, but as others have posted yours look like a caveman has been at them with his stone mallet.

I share your thoughts but . These 3 (never been on a bike) has the same identical ding, caveman has been Very consistant with his Stone malet ;-)
My main rationale for why that must be a factory made ding.. parts are in the post just now , why i cant take further fotos, or place it on the bike ..

Dent makes sense looking at the shorter pipe work and proximity to the foot rest / breake pedals ..

I also notice the Black brackets .. i havnet seen these on anything but the SPS cans ..

In any case, cans may end up as offerings to the god og speed

Did some more research ... The SPS 002 allready well known on this forum seem to have the same nasty right hand side can fitted .. caveman worked in Bologna in 1992 or at Termignoni down the road it seams 😁

The cans fiiied on the 002 seem slightly shorter comparred to the A8/B8 alu as fitted on SP4 .

They are also not having the DB killer installer like on new A/B8 alu cans.

Any SPS owners who Can chip in here ? All having these cans or only some models ...

Have 2 Independent SPS owners confirming that the SPS (Italian version for sure) has slightly shorter CF cans fitted from factory, incl the dent on the right hand side can shown in the start of this thread... hence conclusion : original SPS material ! Need to figure out what to do with them, scrap them, bang them on the SPS, offerings to the God of speed, or some thing else. Thanks for chipping to unearth yet another Ducati variant ..

Why they did what they did in Bologna in 1992 remain a mystery... To much Vino Roso ?
