Realised that we did not get the oil breather / vent tank with the bike and I suspect that is why it won't run well as the crankcase is venting straight to atmosphere and the pipe on the air filter goes nowhere. I'm looking around for the vent tank and apparently there should also be a one way valve but is there an alternative? I think I have seen a filter added to the crankcase breather and I assume the pipe on the filter is just blocked off but would be interested to hear what others have done...

The K+N type filter attached directly to the breather stub isn't a good idea, they can get soaked in oil and then dribble or spay a mist rewards.
If it gets on the rear tyre you'll be in trouble chap!
