Steben wroteHi all, wondering how your original seat fixes to the bike? I have sliced and diced the seat unit to even up the gaps and so that I can refit the seat pad as i don't want my weight on the unit itself. This way I can use the 4 original screws to keep it in position . I would rather secure the seat using the original fixing screw but this would be an eight mm hole in the side to access the mounting screw. As I have never seen any unit with a hole , how are yours fixed?
Any help appreciated , thanks Mark
Mark,
This has been my biggest issue too. The problem I found is that I would either need to create a new catch to "pop" the seat pad on by using a ball catch, or similar, so you don't have to drill a hole in the side of the panel to get to the bolt, or you find a way to disguise the hole, but that would always look slightly wrong externally.
What I do have is a spare Strada rear frame, that I was going to modify to take the single seat unit in the original way, but as I have just acquired an original SPO one, I would be willing to let someone have the spare strada one for them to choose to modify, or keep as it is.
All I know is this isn't a super easy thing to fix, as you are using the original Strada base seat bolted to the frame.
