Engine shutting off

I have a 996 S4R/ST4S engine , St4 wiring loom and a 996 IAW 16M ecu with a 996 eprom. The fuel pump primes like it should and the engine starts as well, but after 2 seconds the engine shuts off immediately even when holding the throttle open. Could this be caused by the eprom being for a 996 and not a st4s engine? I was wondering if this might be caused, because of the cylinder heads of the s4r/st4s being different to the 996 cylinder heads.

A 996 chip is for dual injectors. I assume your ST4S/S4R has single injectors.??

P.S. I would look for a single injector chip. Like one from a ST4S or S4R (with1.6 ECU) or a ultimap 222 (single injectorchip for a 996) The 996 chip is for two injectors runing in unison so you are only getting one half of the fuel required.

Thank you for the information. This explains a lot. I have a standard ST4S/S4R throttlebody, so it must be single injectors.

Yes, a ST4 wiring harness will only have the connectors for two injectors. The 996 wiring harness will have connectors for four injectors.
