pht9 Did all SP4 models have the rear brake caliper mounted above the rear swing arm ?, as mine is mounted below, and I have seen other bikes the same would there be a good reason for moving it from above to below ?

The underslung calliper was a common upgrade on the 888s as it was apparently done to lower the centre of gravity. It became standard on the Ducati 888 SP5.
Bridgland It would be a different bracket with part number of 82510051A. Here is one with the correct round built in spacer. Later ones for 1996 onwards Monsters and STs have larger axle holes with a square spacer block.
