999 Marchesini Rims

Hi, has anyone fitted a set of these to 851/888? I have stock 89 strada race bike & looking for a race wheel upgrade. Any help appreciated.

Are the axle diameters quite a bit larger on the 999? You would have to machine out the slot in the swingarm and adjusters. Plus whatever to get the front wheel in. I don't know if this is still a thing and is also the case for slicks but some tyres are lighter than others. I had Pilot Race on my 999R and replaced them with Pilot Power 3 and I thought the tyre shop had only stuck 15 psi in them, it was that hard to turn.

The 888/926cc Corse bikes ran 6" rear rims, it didn't seem to effect their handling for the worse?
They also ran 23mm rear wheel spindles.

Yes, but will need some bushings etc

Haven't done the 999 wheels, but seen it on 888s.. have done monster 3 spoke and st4s s 5 spokes , bushings and spacers will make you able to keep 17mm rear and 17/20 front .. happy with the 3 spokes from monsters on one of the race pigs ..

Thanks Stig Im guessing the Monster rims would be about same as the 89 851 stock rims re weight etc? May go with ST4S as they seem most popular mod.
