Reuniting an SP3 with its plaque / number

well on very close inspection of the Irish race bike rebuild, and in discussion with other learned parties I have determined that SP3#280 is indeed an original, well at least the plate is.
The crashed frame is here whilst the new frame came from CZ,engine rebuild with Gowie's cases, forks from the collection as is the wiring from several sets also that came in crates. The bits and bobs Ive collected from others so now we have a renaissance period bike that will be ridden, not broken for parts.
Rosa has a sister Bianca and an older cousin the Swamp box ( thats another story).........yes I know its going to elicit comments but its another bike saved from the scrappers.........

Hi Paul,

My then wife (now ex) liked to name her and my bikes, she asked what my 851 was called?
I replied that it hadn't got a name, so she named it after Clint Eastwood's character in the Spaghetti westerns as in the "Man with No Name".
So that's how it became "Clint"...
If it had been a Fireblade it probably would have been "Clit" because every c'nts got one!

Hi Phil,

The bike looks good but I think you're pushing the envelope describing it a a SP3...
You've changed the frame, C/cases, yokes/triple clamps, clip ons, bodywork (for the later '92> onwards style) and the front forks.
How much of the original SP3 is there left apart from the top yoke plaque?
...and I don't mean this in a nasty way mate.

Hey ya Steve, as you know a bit of Bianca's history, she has been cobbled together from the crates of bits together from the crashed rolling unit. The engine cases had been replaced previously with pankle rods and other internal supposedly SP5 bits. The rear is "original" with the Ohlin suspension adjuster, through to the pegs, loom and a choice of ecu and chips. The forks and clamps were also missmatched. The later tank required considerable surgery as did the panels.
Now, after all this, it goes and will be back on the road shortly.

I enjoy recovering " barn finds" without any pretence of concourse. The next owner can do that if they so wish. The 900GTS in the phot was delivered in a very poor state but now another bevel is back.

Just another project in my dotage.

Ducati factory confirmed frame and plaque are original with an engine number from the batch built for SP4's.
As close as you can get to a factory confirmed matching numbers bike then!

This all sounds very similar to the fact that my Family still owns George Washington's original hatchet that he cut down the cherry tree with (rather obscure folklore in the UK I know ),and couldn't lie about.

Well, it was steadfastly used for generation after generation until, the head of the axe eventually wore down and had to be replaced and of course it was inevitable that the handle rotted off and had to be replaced as well, but "intrinsically", it's still George Washington's original hatchet.

True story.

Now for something completely different

Drove Sp4 out of my back store into garage and sorned mhr, taxed sp only to get kitted and bugger she would not start. Everything sounding correct fuel pump, primimg, fuel mist even spark! Though timing seems wrong, after speaking with tech who looks after my bikes he' thinking woodrough Key slipped or Brocken Mark
Collected bike his first impresson after checking belts, Valves prior to completing service is the timing but feel it not a big problem. Back on mhr great day for it.

I have a 'fake plaque on my Corsa Yokes, as I did not want to take the original of the standard Yokes.

But I still wanted people to know that it was an SP5.
