Fulvia-hf I'm reasonably worried that one day I wil drop my precious 851 because of a collapsing side stand. This idiot proof spring system seems more dangerous than for what it is designed. Has anyone installed an electric protection to prevent taking off with the side stand down? Older, mostly Japanese bikes ,have this system as standard but Ducati tried to keep it simple I guess. My Bike has a side stand switch closed when down and a neutral switch, closed when in neutral. I have a clutch switch waiting to be hooked up. Cheers, william
Fulvia-hf Just to get rid of the spring loaded effect I modified the hat washer. A bit less safe for starting to move with the jiffy down but much safer resting on it.
brad black people used to ask us to do that, and when they picked the bike up we'd remind them that the stand will now stay down and they'd say "yes, yes" and then ride off with the stand down. there's a light on the dash to tell you it's down at least.
