griff851 Just a lakeside track day. We apparently don't shake hands anymore. Stand on one leg and tap ankles, then repeat on other leg. Arms generally raised to maintain balance. Looks as funny as hell.
Whitto1 cancellations well here in Aus, the ASBK rounds at Wakefield has been postponed till when? The Festival of Speed (now not to be known as the Barry Sheene Festival) has been cancelled and the StGeorge meet at Wakefield looks like a non starter, Coupled with that my trip to the TT is also canned so I'll just have to quarrantine myself in the workshop for 14 days. Might get some work done
econti Word of the wise is we'll get a 2-3 week enforced quarantine, so I'm going to get a few tins of paint and make good use of it, in making the strada not look like dog shit. As long as the government put up money or freeze rent I (and my shop) will be OK.
griff851 Don't hold your breath on the money and rent thing, this isn't Europe. So far all i've seen is scum sucking banks offering easy access to loans to get you through. Great, major economic crisis and they just want everyone to go into more debt. Yep what a plan, what could possibly go wrong!
Mr.R Dead men don't pay debts, unless you've signed an agreement to pay your family/survivors won't need to pay back the banks. As my old Dad said to me many years ago... "Never worry about owing money son, let them worry if they'll get it back!" Lets all eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow we may die! On a more serious note... My 90 year old Mum lives with me along with a 28 year old son and 16 year old daughter. My girls school shuts tomorrow until after the summer holidays, when she should be off to college anyway, my boy works 3-4 nights a week in the nearest city (Plymouth) and the only real reason that I need to leave the house is to shop for our food (lets be honest here AND beer!). Both of my youngsters are terrified that they'll bring home the virus and infect their frail Granny, my boy also worries about infecting me. I refuse on principle to panic buy/shop but when I do venture out I find the shop shelves almost all empty. Still on upside I've a few Ducati related projects on the go that will keep me occupied if we need to self isolate and 2 freezers full of fish and meat, so it could be a high protein diet for us. MarkT Yeah- our little town up here in the mountains is a bit of a lockdown with three or so of our small number of restaurants being closed and the schools now closed. No virus yet- just got test kits at our small clinic. Unfortunately, we have many summer residents from Florida and other parts of NC who come up to the mountains for the summer. I am sure they are coming up early to run away from the virus. Sad to say with our limited medical resources and the fact that most of the population up here as well as the summer residents coming up are over 60- they will find that they will get worse medical care than if they stayed near a big city with large hospitals. What I find interesting is that most of the folks around here are Christian conservatives and are rabid followers of President Trump. I am an independent and find both parties lacking. There was a recent survey where the majority of Republicans said that they did not think the virus would affect their lives--- parroting what the president was saying a few days back. The Democrat majority was sure it was going to affect their lives. I thought that would mean that the local WallMart would be pretty well stock-- nope- empty shelves with the TP shelves totally empty--- and it was packed with people barely being able to push their carts because they were so loaded down of boxes of cookies and such. Our area does not have enough Democrats or Independents to make the WallMart shelves bare that fast. So while the Republicans say they have no fears on a survey---they were the first to stock up for Armageddon. Now President Trump has performed his normal 180 pivots and is now the War Time President who will lead the American people through this crisis ---which he felt it was a crisis from day one back in December--- and was just trying to calm down the public. So us old folks are hunkered down to wait it out-- wish I had a few more projects since I see this going on through the summer if we get lucky and "flatten" the curve.

Interbank 30 day cash rates are rising rapidly. This means credit is locking up, same thing as GFC. The difference this time is there is no global output due virus. Logistics have shut down meaning no trade. US has been throwing around numbers of unemployment in test scenarios of 20%. These are Great Depression numbers. The difference being in the depression drought occurred as well. Plan ahead for worse case scenario people. This is a global issue.
econti griff851 wroteThe virus itself doesn't really scare me. The financial situation most definitely does however. If it continues as it is then it will be very very bad.
griff851 Yes. Get rid of as much debt as you can, and go lean. 30 day interbank cash rates are rising. Credit is freezing up. Basically GFC Mark 2. Major markets have already shed 35-40% another 30% is not out of the question in the short term. Long term a month- 2months it might collapse. Could be a good thing. China and Russia seem to be doing alright after their restructure. I for one would like to see our country no longer raped and pillaged by overseas interests. I mean how god damn stupid is our gas. None allocated for domestic use except in WA. We buy out gas back from overseas after we sent it there in the first place. Cost a fortune. I'd like to remodel like Norway. There is not much you can do about. It's across the board. All asset classes are effected. Worrying won't change anything. Stay calm. It's happened before, very ugly, but not the end of the world. (Just very close 😁. ) everyone is in the same boat. The big thing is going to be if there's a drought in the northern hemisphere. Remember the only thing constant in the universe is change. Roll with it and stay healthy.
