tubbylad Hello all, has anyone reverse engineered the fork tubes or have a drawing for these unobtanium parts? I'm thinking about having some made and was wondering if anyone here has gone through the process already. The risk of losing the originals by re anodising has got me considering alternatives. Regards, Martin
Speedmade I have successfully anodized the upper tubes with great results. Also, these guys have the chrome tubes available. http://www.tarozzipaolo.com/inglese/...bswj43b85227TU
Jafa I've looked at making new tubes. The biggest problem is boring the I.D. with enough accuracy and a good enough finish for the bushes. We don't have big enough gear at work, and every other local machine shop I've asked doesn't either. I've also asked various companies around the world, and only one guy ( in Canada? - it was a while ago ) said he could "have a go" but wouldn't promise anything, and even for him to "have a go" was going to be expensive. I even asked Ohlins Heritage department in about 2015?, and they weren't interested either. I would love to see the machine that fork manufacturers use to machine the tubes, it surely can't be a standard lathe.
ducati dad I think these guys did some gold tubes. Might be worth giving them a bell... http://www.allbikeengineering.co.uk/forks.php
