mistery hole ( brains trust question 2)

Having replaced the damaged cases on the project bike, Ive discovered a tapped hole in the front barrels
that goes into the oil gallery. On the 888 spare barrels the hole is solid in casting. What cases have this hole and what's it for as when running the motor up ( without the plugs Yes) to get oil circulation it pumps out here.

Hi Phil,

I'm 99.9% sure that they're Tricolore Kit barrels.
I have one like that on my 851/916 motor and have always thought that was where it came from.

Thanks Steve: we have blanked off the hole with a suitable bolt that matches a photo i have. Good pressure now, so happy with the jigsaw mystery project. Now for a few more bits to finish " Bianca".
Always a challenge finding "barn finds" in crates.

Might be to stick an oil pressure gauge in during servicing. Who knows.
