You know I've never thought of it but the surface area for the discs is left bare on alloy wheels along with the surfaces for the bearings etc.
I use powder coating on mine as the guy I use does a superb job with no orange peel and the detail is better than with paint. Some coaters do lash it on a bit!

Can anyone confirm whether the interior of the rear wheel casting is painted or left bare?
My SP4 rear has been powder coated in the past however the inside of the rear casting where the spindle goes is a mix of black and and blasted aluminium.
Not sure if its over spray from previous powder coat or original finish not properly removed.
Both wheels need re doing so any feedback as to which finish is most durable - 2K gloss black spray or powder coat?
From experience I've seen detail get lost with powder coat hence considering spraying instead.
