888 Strada exhaust / air filter upgrade

New member saying hello, thanks for having me !

I have a 1994 888 Strada with standard pipes. I've purchased a set of high level Sil Moto open pipes, and the bike already has a K&N air filter

I appreciate that the Eprom will need changing. The bike runs a P8 ECU and currently has the standard '038' Euro Strada chip in it

I've purchased an EPROM from a German supplier. He sells EPROMS made by a company called 'P-Line' and the chip I have bought is specifically for a 'base' 888 running a P8 ECU and 'free flow filter and open pipes' Apparently, this chip will richen up the mixture by 5% across the range. The seller appears to have been selling these chips for around 11 years or so

I'm still waiting for all the parts to arrive. I merely want an 888 that sounds a bit fruity, and runs safely. To me, I'm doing everything right, but what do you all think ?

Would you agree that all should be OK with this. Also would TPS need resetting with replacement chip

That should work pretty good. I did 6% on my SPO but I have 50MM cans and Spaghetti system. It still needed a bit more fuel at 5000 rpm and up so I bought a chip burner and modified the fuel map myself with TunerPro (free) software and the xdf file I posted on this forum in the files' section. Not that hard really. I have modified my fuel map countless times and almost have it ironed out. still a bit raw from 7-8000 rpms. it needs a tad more fuel there.

Great stuff freqrider, that's what I wanted to hear. Main concern is that it's safe and not leaning out at higher revs

Do I need to reset TPS or does the P8 do this on each ignition 'on' ?

Any other opinions ?

I would think you'll be OK but it may be worth going to a local dyno and getting the oxy prong up its bum just to be sure.

No TPS reset on the P8 necessary. You really need to weld the bungs onto the header for Wideband O2 sensors. The tailpipe O2 sensor can only tell you so much. That way you can develop a delta map for her. Fine tune and balance each cylinder. Also I recommend having your injectors professionally cleaned. I had a lean condition in one cylinder because of a fouled injector.

Thanks. Will have it all up and running shortly. EPROM fitted now, and just need to fit pipes which have now arrived. Airbox is cut/open with K&N, and bike starts/runs fine with new chip (albeit with standard pipes) Clearly runs richer at low engine speeds, evident from slight fluffiness, gas output and smell, all to a small degree. Race pipes on tomorrow now...
