Dme
Yes the S heads were all the same, with the machined area on the cylinder head, it is the DME stamped on them which is in question, it has been suggested that DME could've been Ducati Mecchanica , however the pilot in 1994 / 1995 was Ferdinand Di Maso along with his brother as the mechanic. Both the motor fitted to the bike on day of collection, along with the spare motor both had the same DME stamped on them. The spare motor had a full rebuild the year the 916R arrived.

Just a guess.
If you've had the bike from new, then thats how it came from the factory. So i don't know.
My guess is that at sometime for example a David Morse engineering have had something to do with that engine.
I had a 900SS engine worked on ages ago, the tech who did the work left his mark on a few engine parts-I wasn't too happy about that as he didnt tell me he was going to do this.
The stamps dont look like they are applied in a professional way.

This seems indicative of a racebike--an engine builder or possibly the rider initials.

I am very certain that the DME stamp is indicative of the pilot and the brother who was the mechanic, surname Di Maso and E for engine. It was suggested, that it was Ducati Mecchanica, I guess as an 'arse covering” attempt to justify Corse parts which were removed and swapped for Strada. I still have the Strada heads in the shed with the DME stamped on them along with other road bike engine parts. Thanks to James DM. Thanks for all your comments.
