C clips - pain in the back side

Working on Engines just now and find the std. C clips a pain in the back side.. have been looking around for some alternative clips that would work with a seegerring pair of pliers , but nothing seem available .. what's the trick here guys ? (20 and 21 mm)

If they are for your gudgeon pins I wouldn't go down that route as the ears have been know to fail with not very nice consequences. As well as ear failure the machined slot in the piston has a different form than that of a seeger ring (round for the C clips vs square for the seeger ring).

The pain of fitting a C ring is not as bad as the pain of stripping a motor because of a seeger ring failure.
