Bucci 4 spring slipper - Not for racing

Disassembled the 4 spring Bucci slipper for a cleaning after 3-4 track days / racing .. Nut did not resist.. half loose ! ( thank god I had locktided it.. )
Then ; spider spring comes out in 3 pieces .. what have I done wrong here ? Bucci not made for racing or what.. (clutch was a bit rough last few hours but stilled worked ok, I did not expect to see this ..

Any insight ?

Spider finishing

Found some new spiders ... so far so good...
Now after closer inspections they are laser cut ( like the original spider spring ) hence axial groves, with degraded material ... a perfect start of a crack... ! Any one having spider springs check them out at next inspection and remove the rough surface at high tension area.. I'm sure this will extend the spider life significantly ..

If this is a cheaply made , laser cut part made from Stainless steel then this is the wrong material and the reason why it cracked !!!!. The part needs to be made of Heat treated spring steel (That could be laser cut no problem)............just my 2 penny worth.

Good to know. i have one on my track bike which is acting up. Probably that spring!!

Heat treated spring steel

It's heat treated spring steel allright, but seemingly high stress and full of micro cracks as the come.. I'm just pointing out that removing the latter part it will likely last a bit longer .. I will question the clutch design all together ..

I'm preey sure mine has broken again. I can pull the clutch with one finger and of course it doesn't slip!

I will polish the new one and see if it helps.

Mine is a STM but appears to be the same animal.

On the photo 1 of 3 below. The Left hand part is a blueish colour and not broken , this looks like Heat treated steel. The RH part that is broken looks too shiny/silvery and looks like Stainless steel or at least non heat treated steel...........just going on the photo. Maybe it is polished (But why would you do that ?).

Easy test : Put in a vice and try and subject the same forces to each material and see which one springs back further. Or if you want to keep going , which one bends permanently first....
