On the photo 1 of 3 below. The Left hand part is a blueish colour and not broken , this looks like Heat treated steel. The RH part that is broken looks too shiny/silvery and looks like Stainless steel or at least non heat treated steel...........just going on the photo. Maybe it is polished (But why would you do that ?).
Easy test : Put in a vice and try and subject the same forces to each material and see which one springs back further. Or if you want to keep going , which one bends permanently first....
