Yes-- at first glance, it looks a bit wonky and you feel the tight fit will require oil hole-to-hole alignment or an annular groove to assure good lubrication circulation back to the sump.
I have never seen an annular groove on either the street aluminum- or the Corse mag bearing/cam holders.
Both are exactly the same casting with the early Corse's mag holders looking exactly like the street aluminum version-- by '91 the factory simply machined off the vertical plate section since they were not using covers and it saved a few grams.
There is a Left and Right holder just like the street version and the shallow slot/oil holes are located in the same locations. They do not line up over the holes in the head.
On all of the Corse motors I have built, I have installed them with the chamfers facing each other and never had oiling issues at the track.
I do not have a street set to confirm this is how the factory intended- perhaps someone could pull out a set and report back.
