Claire4dukes I think the rules over there were 2 out of 3 from the following: 4V heads Fuel Injection Water Cooled 851 with 900SS power plant pic:
dudlington Alfs racing used to race for years an 851 with an air cooled 900 engine inside. He seems to have stopped now though.
henk I use to have a aircooled trackbike, not on a 888 base but a 900 SS. It was a track bike so it had just what needed to be on it,so no lights... And what what was on it was light! Marvic wheels, carbon fuel tank, light akrapovic exhaust systeme, light fairing, verlicchi swingarm,..... And i got the weight down to 157kg with some fuel still in it. So if you want to get it under the 145kg,forget inexpensive then.😁 Henk!!!
econti Why not just buy a 900ss and do that from the get go? The rear end design is worse but still manageable... I have a 1000ss front end on my 600 with revalved shocks and it completely blitzes my 888 in handling stakes. The weight difference is unbelievable too.
brad black brian rosser runs ducati 650 engines in the iom. this year he has a 4v version (821 with 749r crank pretty much), previously he has run 696 based motors. i'm sure he has an old 696 bike he could sell you.
Claire4dukes 900 Motor stated above had ST3 3 motor; so oil cooling and 3 valve heads with the 851's fuel injection. Mix and match to your and the class rules satisfaction. It was a class champion in the UK.
henk I think a rolling chassis from a 916-996 would be great as well to use with a aircooled engine. Henk!!!
