851 Frame Identification

Hello again,
Newbie still searching for the right bike seeking the wisdom of the forum.
With regards to the black label in the picture on the vertical tube...

1. Should I be suspicious if its missing (holes are in frame, label is not attached)
2. Whats the correct position (I've seen another bike with it on the top horizontal tube running from the headstock)

The homologation tab is for the road bikes (For inspection) and as far as I have seen on the LH side as shown in your photo. Now some bikes don,t have them but that might be that the holes were filled when the frame went off for painting and the plate got lost....... as happened to me. The original plates are hard to find but I have seen some new ones for 888S floating around a few years back.........so maybe someone is making them again ?.
