I got the new pump , walbro , and after a lot of shagging about finally got it to fit . Not the pumps fault , just my sausage fingers coupled with the rubber carrier that the pump fits in is old and stiff plus the plastic carrier did not want to be persuaded into the mounting in the bottom of the tank . A little relief work and in it went - unfortunately not before i broke off the plastic feed spigot - numbnuts !!.
So i JB welded a brass fitting in and continued on . I needed to know the motor was going to run . Starts and runs like a champ !!. I immediately ordered another new pump to replace the one i buggered . There is however an electrical problem with the the 4 pin connector leading to the pump under the tank . The power and earth wires are heat damaged and give an intermittant connection - probably due to too much resistance/bad connection i'm guessing so i replaced them with rewired connectors and all is good . The new wiring does not get hot and passes good current .
New sneakers front and rear this weekend and then a test ride .
Fingers crossed .
