New radiator

Just fitting a new radiator to the 851/888 spgriffy. I forget what it’s off, late model V4 monster maybe. It’s got 2 fans (one’s going) and is way lighter than the straight original with 1 fan. Just first fit and building brackets and then off to the local auto shop to rummage through there hose collection. I love it when you snuffle around in boxes and get a surprise you left yourself years earlier. 😁

Also fitted a couple of new air filters DNA RZ-65-122. I plastic sleeves around the velocity stacks so the clamp on. Just had to Nick the top of the rear filter so it clears the tank heat shield. Front has about a mm clearance from the frame bar.
Note the discoloured heat shield, that’s from the regulator spontaneous ignition event. Toasty! 😁
Photos seem to be at odd angles even when I rotate them. Oh well!

I don’t really remember. I thought it was off a new monster out of the box that was damaged. (Small ding on the top corner,paint missing) It could have been a 1098, the shop shut after the 1198 cam out. What ever it is, it mounts up with just making 4 small 90° brackets. Way better than the original flat lump of concrete! More clearance to remove the front spark plug too. The fans are Panasonic if that helps I’d it.

If anyone knows what it is from please let us know, it may fit and be be more efficient 'Down Under on the 888 Corses I have.

the lower mount with threaded boss would make me think 1098/1198 and being black would make me think 1198, or maybe 848.

Well, that got a bit out of hand. Had to do some loom work.... new fuse box.... oil switch crapped out.......turned it over today... starter solenoid then decided to go to earth....

pretty sure you are right Brad, although I always thought 848/1098/1198 were the same - (SBK not Streetfighter). What they do have in common is a tendency to fracture the top tube of the core on the L/H side, right next to the L/H top mount. It's due to a "movement argument" between the rigidity of the top hose and that mount and can occur after as little as 5K miles if you're really unlucky. There was supposed to be a sturdier replacement rad that superseded the originals but fractures can still happen on later rads. A shallow "u" section additional plate that doubles up the gauge attached to the top frame plate in above described area is all that's needed.

I agree Chris, looks very much like the rad fitted to the 1198 (can't speak for the 1098 or 848); I had the "pleasure" of replacing it on my 1198S recently due to a leak - at the top right corner, not left. Ducati dealer wasn't really concerned, best they would do was a 10% discount. As an aside, Ducati will only sell you a rad complete with both fans, even though the ones on my bike were working fine. They will sell you the fans separately though - go figure!
