Gunk in tank, not run in years

OK, so I have this Ducati 851 which has been sitting for a long time. The gas tank is all Skunky, I'm not sure how to take the fuel lines apart from inside the tank, I have everything loose. It looks pretty bad, but I don't want to do Any damage. How do I take this apart so that I can get it together again?

Remove the gas cap/hinge assembly. Then you will see tiny allen set screws that secure the filler neck to the top of the fuel tank. Remove the set screws to get the filler neck out. It may be stuck as there is an O-ring that seals it to the tank. Then be prepared to replace all of the hoses inside the tank, as well as the fuel filter and probably the fuel pump and mount as well.
Note that the fuel hose is special hose that is designed to be submerged in fuel. If you use regular hose it will swell and come apart.
You may have to send the fuel injectors out to be cleaned.

Thank you. Got the filter out. The hoses to and from the filter are completely rotted, through and through.

Next question. How do I get the fuel pump out? Does it snap into that holder or must I unbolt it?

depends on the year. if it's the big pump then the plastic surround clips into the tank, and you remove that, take all the screws out and it comes apart. it's all the same as bmw early k series.

Well I did get it out. You have to unbolt all six bolts which is a little bit tight but I got it. I’m guessing even though the fuel pump ran I should probably replace it because everything else is just so Skunky. Advice? Also, should I look to replace the fuel sending unit or just the O-rings? Is it sealed? Can I dump it in an ultrasonic cleaner? Not sure how far that slide is supposed to go up and down the shaft. Thank you
