Pat 851 SP3 Hi all my 851sp3 has just clicked 20000 miles and at last service last yr lad said it was ready for new basket and clutch?! What and which 1 am I looking for?! Thanks Pat Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
AndrewS Which clutch basket... Hi Pat I was in that situation a while ago - Carl Harrison (in Harleston, Norfolk) replaced it with, I think, one for the ST4. Blowed if I can remember why that one though! I've a vague recollection that it was because it was lighter than the standard basket, but I'm not sure. I can probably dig out the part number if that helps. Andrew

brad black 2001 onward most models used an aluminium basket and pack. i tend to use a light steel basket made locally that's like an old sp part, but with the ducati aluminium pack 19020111A so that way the pack is sacrificial in the basket. although i wouldn't replace any of it until it slips personally. it will possibly get horribly noisy prior to that. if you got some good s/h 1098/1198 stuff they have an extra friction plate and a bit longer basket and the extra friction should allow you to remove a couple of springs to make it lighter. or there's a german bloke on ebay selling newfren stuff and he has stocks of 1.5mm steels so you can use them to make a thinner pack to then get another steel in for the same effect.

marvin I normally buy the later (2001 and later)(from someone who bought a slipper clutch) aluminum and run them until they are really dead. Yes real noisey but who cares. When people tell me that something is wrong or my valves need setting I just tell them that it is a diesel. That usually shuts them up! Good info. on the 10-1198 stuff Brad !
