916/996 Gear selector drum

Hi

Dose the gear selector drum from 916/996 work/fit in 888 cases.

Hi Chap,

Yes but you need to modify the cases, this isn't a big job as the boss to take the 9*6 indent is already cast in the 888 cases.
On the clutch side just above the layshaft is where you'll find this boss, drill and tap it out to 8mm, then the 9*6 indent jockey wheel, arm and spring can be fitted.
Job done!

Yes I have and I've fitted an alloy 9*6 alloy race drum.
I'm not sure if you know this part of the mod' though?
You really need to modify the selector forks to accept rollers on the pins that locate in the drum slots,
the rollers prevent premature wear of the slots.
I had a couple of sets modified by Kamna in Germany, I can't remember how much they charged though.

That's what I got an alloy/ergol type. So I need took into that roller mod then.
