Has anyone on here fitted some successfully to their bike?
The box is maked FRSP S3534 090...Street/RR Fork Springs 35.2x340mm .90 kg/mm.

Today I set about fitting a pair of 0.90kg Race Tech springs, to my '92 851/916 Strada's Showa forks, (these are matched to mine and my bikes weight*) as the Hagon progressive springs I've been using have got just a little bit tired now and I can't set the sag even with the preload adjusters wound fully in.
*I like/need slightly softer springs for the roads, this isn't a track bike and I find track settings/springs too firm/harsh for fast use on the UK back roads/A roads.

I'll cut to the chase they DON'T fit. 🙁
The ID of the springs is too small (2mm smaller than standard springs) making them an extremely snug fit/waaay too tight on the plastic guides on the cartridges and won't go all the way down to the bottom of the forks.
I think they're hitting/fouling on the valves.
So much for a drop in modification...
I'll get my money back but not the almost wasted afternoon...

Race Tech do recommend fitting their 'Gold' valves which might let the springs go fully into the legs, but won't overcome the overly tight fit on the plastic guides.

Anyway all was not lost as I flushed/cleaned the forks, fitted new seals, made/fitted 10mm preload spacers to get me back into the preload adjusters range with the tired springs and filled them with new oil, (125mm airgap) also taking apart/cleaning the comp' and rebound adjusters that have now got nice clicks when before they were just full of crud, making the clicks hardly noticeable/more like stirring porridge.
They'll have to do for now as the Island (IOM TT races) is only 3 weeks away.

This mod' was aways going to be a stop gap until I get Maxton to sort out my set of Ohlins FG9050's, they've quoted me £600 + tax to completely rebuild them inc' hard chroming the stanchions, (Ti' plating is extra) revalving and springing them to suit mine and the bikes weight/riding style/use.

One more thing the clicks on the standard Showa adjusters/valves make hardly any difference to the feel, but all the way in or out is really noticeable on my patent suspension dyno...aka me pushing them up and down.

The Race Tech 'Gold' valves and those fitted by Maxton or K-Tech (the UK's top suspension specialist) are said to really make a difference with each individual click.
