Hi guys and gals,

I have a couple of questions which I need some advice on but you have to let me set the scene first.

In a time long long ago (actually it was last August ) and a land far far away ( actually it was little old New Zealand ) a Ducati 851 sat in the garage with a couple of jappa race bikes to keep him company.

Along came the baddie in the form of the crazy ex who after an operation with Military type timing broke into my garage and pushed my bikes over 😡.

One of my race bikes fell into my tool chest for very little damage and the other one had no fairings as I was rebuilding it, so was sweet but the little old duke well it didn't fair so well.

It was pushed into the bike with no fairings and who knows what else she did as it had a bit of damage.

So Mr Insurance man stepped up to the plate and the bike is looking awesome again.

So it come to the crux of the dribble so far; the local mechanic told me my bike has a couple of problems which I need some advice on.

Firstly he said it sounds like the starter clutch has crapped out ( I suspected it was on the way out ), so I am wondering what other models will fit as $400 NZD just for the part is what they quoted me. The other thing is what is it exactly that I need to get to replace it. I realize that it is probably impossible to diagnose without seeing it but any advice would be appreciated.

Secondly and more importantly he also told me that my fuel pump has now shit itself. What is the best option for a replacement what considerations do I need to make in regards to making it fit.

I have searched previous posts which talk about it, however I am quite unfamiliar with Ducati's and so maybe someone explaining it to me in layman's terms would be good.
